SOMA Laboratory Announces Pulsar-32:1984, A Special Edition Born from Collaboration Between The Midium and SOMA US Division

Pulsar-32:1984 available now in USA and coming soon to Europe and other regions

Warsaw, Poland, March 26, 2026 — SOMA Laboratory, maker of experimental synthesizers and sound machines, presents the new PULSAR-23: 1984, a special edition born from a collaboration between The Midium and the SOMA US Division. This new instrument has emerged from a year-long exchange of ideas, shaped in close collaboration with SOMA US engineer Noah Jolly. It is the first SOMA instrument featuring U.S. design and engineering, carrying a new voice beneath a familiar form.

In an age where every signal is monitored and every voice risks being flattened, new tools are required for artistic originality. Only 84 numbered units of the 1984 PULSAR-23 have been made available in the United States, with more units becoming available for Europe and other regions in the near future.

The new edition of Pulsar-23 carries its own identity, both sonically and visually. At its core is an entirely new Bass Drum architecture, designed by Noah Jolly, which introduces a new fresh sound. Also, the Bass section is shaped by a filter inspired by the legendary Polivoks circuit, unrefined yet very much alive.

PULSAR-23 1984 is not a mass-produced object but is rather a personal instrument in a standardized world. It is a simple reminder that sound can still be handmade and unpredictable. Following is a full list of its features:

Sonic architecture

  • New oscillator design for the basic design that produces an asymmetrically clipped triangle wave that can be overdriven to a square wave with the Drive knob.
  • An expanded Tune knob range
  • OMG pin is now an AC coupled FM input
  • New filter for the BASS section based on the Polivoks filter

Design aesthetic:

• Bare metal chassis with clear coat

• All red LEDs

• All black soft case

• Red/White/Black alligator cables only

The new 1984 PULSAR-23 can be pre-ordered now exclusively through themidium.com, through SOMA US at Earwormllc.com and through SOMA EU at https://soundmachines.eu/. Units are expected to become available in Europe and other regions in the near future.
